Celebrated Hong Kong director and Chairman of the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild, Gordon CHAN is the helmer of box office successes such as King of Beggars (1992) and Thunderbolt (1995), and the award-winning Beast Cops (1998), which won him the Best Director award at the Hong Kong Film Awards (1999). CHAN has been nominated internationally for his work in directing as well as scriptwriting, the most recent of which is for A1 Headline (2004).

Hong Kong Trade Development Council

Benjamin Chau Kai-Leung is an Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC). He was a banker before joining the TDC in 1984. In a career spanning nearly 25 years, he has been involved in a great variety of trade promotion activities, specializing in China trade promotion. He led the TDC's Exhibitions and Exhibition Services divisions from 1997 until mid-2007, building the TDC's fair portfolio to 31 annual exhibitions. Under his leadership, seven TDC trade fairs are now the largest of their kind in Asia and several are among the world's largest. In 2006, the E-Commerce Department was added to his portfolio, to better integrate the TDC's exhibitions, publications and online trade portal. Mr Chau now oversees both the Product Promotion and Service Promotion Divisions, spearheading the TDC's extensive manufacturing and service industries' promotion programme in the Chinese mainland and overseas.

Kim Dong Ho

Pusan International Film Festival

Kim Dong-ho is the Director at the Pusan International Film Festival and vice-chairman at the Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema. He has been awarded many cultural medals in recognition of his achievements and efforts in the cultural development in South Korea as well as in the international society. He has also served as the jury in the many other prestigious film festivals such as the Rotterdam, India and the Seattle International Film Festival. Mr Kim had consecutively filled various government posts at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for 27 years and had also worked as the vice-Minister (formerly known as Ministry of Culture and Information). In addition, he served as the president at the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Corporation and at the Seoul Arts Center. His recent book, ‘History of Korean Cinema Policy’ (written by Kim Dong-ho et al) was published in 2005.

Hou Hsiao Hsien

Taiwan's acclaimed director and winner of numerous film prizes all over the world, Hou Hsiao Hsien established himself as a leading figure of Taiwan New Wave in the last decade. He made his directorial debut with the film Cute Girls in 1980. By his third film, Green, Green Grass of Home (1981), he was nominated for a Golden Horse Award. Since then he has helped shape a whole new cinema consciousness in Taiwan. Hou captured international attention with The Boys From Fengkuei (1983) and A Summer at Grandpa’s (1984), both winners at Festival des 3 Continents, Nantes, France. His autobiographical film A Time To Live, A Time To Die (1985), took home an international critics' award from Berlin in 1985 and was named the best film outside of Europe and America by the Rotterdam Film Festival. He then continued to make critically acclaimed films, Dust in the Wind (1986) and Daughter of The Nile (1987), and was gradually known as one of the most innovative filmmakers of the world. In 1989, his A City of Sadness won the coveted Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival. In 1993, his masterpiece The Puppetmaster won jury prize in Cannes. His next films Good Men, Good Women (1995), the energetic Goodbye South, Goodbye (1996), Flowers of Shanghai (1998), Millennium Mambo (2001), Café Lumiere (2004) and Three Times (2005) were hailed by critics at the competition at the Venice Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. As a producer, Hou has helped bring about such as Edward Yang's Taipei Story, Zhang Yimou's Raise the Red Lantern, Hsu Hsiao-Ming's Dust of Angels, Heartbreak Island, Wu Nien-Jen's A Borrowed Life and Chen Kuo-Fu's Treasure Island. He also took the lead acting role in Taipei Story.

China Film Directors’ Guild

One of the most prominent "Fifth Generation" Mainland directors, HUANG has made his name with The Black Cannon Incident in 1985, which won him the Golden Rooster Award for Best Director. His films, Surveillance (1995) and The Marriage Certificate (2001), were screened in various international film festivals to great reception, including Cannes, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, San Sebastian, Munich, San Francisco, Rotterdam, and Toronto, and were selected as one of the 10 Greatest Chinese Films in the Hong Kong International Film Festival. HUANG is also the president of the China Film Directors’ Association.

Peter LAM is Chairman of the Lai Sun Group and as well as of Media Asia Group. A major figure in the entertainment business, Mr. Lam is a member of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, a member of the Entertainment Industry Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, a director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society and is Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Films since its establishment. Besides, Mr. Lam has actively served the community in other sectors. He is a member of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, a director of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong, and an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Hotel Owners Association.

Li Qian-kuan

Helmer of acclaimed films Kai Guo Da Dian (1989), Chongqing Tan Pan (1993) and The Lu Gou Qiao Incident (1995) LI Qian-kuan was the winner of the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Awards for Films. LI has helmed a number of film industry events in China, such as the opening ceremony for the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers awards. Under LI's leadership as chairman, the China Film Foundation has launched the "Wan Ying Ji Hau"–an initiative to show films to youths, the elderly and the disenfranchised schools in remote areas. LI is involved in politics as a representative of the Chinese film industry. He has been a delegate of the Chinese People's Representative, and is now a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee. The Mainland’s Chinese Film Museum and Film Channel was established with LI's recommendation. At the celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of Chinese Cinema, LI was named one of the filmmakers with outstanding contribution to China.

Marco Müeller

Born in Rome, Marco Müeller was educated as anthropologist and orientalist (in Italy and in China respectively). Since 1977 he worked as a film critic and historian (on Asian cinema and other subjects) and is author of TV-documentaries about cinema. After he created the mammoth festival "Electric Shadows" in Turin (1981), he directed Pesaro (Italy), Rotterdam (Nerherlands) and Locarno (Switzerland) film festivals. Marco Müeller is also known as Inventor of film funds (Hubert Bals Fund in Rotterdam, Fondazione Montecinemaverità in Locarno/Lugano, Fondazione Officina Cinema Sud Est in Bologna). Since 1997 he has been a producer for the new production company he has initiated (Fabrica Cinema, Downtown Pictures, Riforma Film, OneArt) with a filmography of 16 features (which has won him an Oscar, five awards in Cannes, three in Venice and two in Berlin). Since 2001 he started teaching again, he now holds the chair of Production Design at Mario Botta's Academy of Architecture (Mendrisio, Switzerland). From 2004 he is the director of the Venice Film Festival.

Known as the "Godfather of Hong Kong Cinema", NG See-yuen has been hailed as one of the most innovative producers / directors in the region. In recent years, Ng served as the President of Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild, and is currently its Honorary Permanent President. He was the Chairman of Hong Kong Film Awards Association (1995-2000), and is now the Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, a member of Hong Kong Film Services Advisory Committee and a member of Commission on Strategic Development.

Nansun Shi

Esteemed and prolific producer Nansun SHI has produced such blockbuster hits as Dragon Tiger Gate (2006), Infernal Affairs (2002), the Once Upon a Time in China series (1991-1997), and the Aces Goes Places series (1982-1986). SHI was named by Variety magazine as one of the 50 most influential independent filmmakers around the world and Producer of the Year by CineAsia in 2005. She was pivotal in the success of Cinema City and Film Workshop Co Ltd, which she founded with her director husband Tsui Hark. Committed to the progress of Hong Kong cinema, SHI is a member of the Hong Kong Film Development Council. In 2007, SHI was a juror of the Berlin festival’s main competition.

Jack So

Mr. Jack So Chak Kwong, is a Vice Chairman of Credit Suisse (Greater China). He is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and the deputy Chairman and Group Managing Director of PCCW from 2003 to 2007. Before that, he was Chairman and Chief Executive of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited from 1995. He is also an advisor to the China Netcom Group, and a non-executive Director of American International Assurance Company Limited and Cathay Pacific Airways Limited. Mr. So was also appointed by the HKSAR Government as Chairman of the Film Development Council and Member of the Commission on Strategic Development.

Movie Producers and Distributors Association of Hong Kong Limited (MPDA)

WONG Pak Ming founded Cinema City Co., Ltd. with Karl Maka and Dean Shek in 1980. He has over 20 years of experience in the film industry as director, scriptwriter and actor. He is perhaps best remembered for his role in The Happy Ghost (1984) and its sequels. In 1991, Wong found the Mandarin Group of companies. Wong is producer in more than 80 titles of the Mandarin film library. In 2001, the Mandarin Group took a great leap towards another remarkable milestone by listing its share on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (stock code: 0009). Wong has been the Chairman of Movie Producers and Distributors Association of Hong Kong Limited since 1997.
